Role Overview As the Head of Engineering at Seobility, you will spearhead the technical side of a mature, high-traffic SEO software platform. Recently, we completed a significant platform update. Now, we are focused on adapting to the evolving SEO landscape, driven by AI and changing user expectations. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will connect the technical challenges with business goals. Our team is small and experienced—ambitious and supportive of each other. You will have the opportunity to significantly impact and grow with the team.

Your Impact (First 3-6 Months)

* Cultivate Team Relationships: Develop strong, collaborative relationships with the engineering team and technical leaders to promote a culture of trust and high performance.

* Foster Ownership: Encourage the team to take ownership of their outcomes. Facilitate the shift from functional roles to end-to-end responsibility.

* Streamline Processes: Work closely with the team to identify and resolve bottlenecks. Implement an efficient, value-driven delivery process with enhanced predictability and speed.

* Strategic Planning: Begin executing a roadmap that balances strategic tech transformations (like reducing tech debt and embracing AI-native engineering) with product innovation goals.

Responsibilities

* AI-Driven Practices: Lead the implementation of AI-driven engineering practices to boost productivity and efficiency.

* Organizational Growth: Guide the transition to broader, outcome-focused roles. Enhance collaboration between Product and Engineering to reduce dependencies and maximize value delivery.

* Technical Vision: Collaborate with tech leads to define and refine the technical roadmap, balancing the reduction of technical debt with the delivery of new features.

* Platform Reliability: Ensure our data-heavy platform remains fast, reliable, and secure as it scales, with a focus on data privacy and GDPR compliance.

* Talent Development: Mentor and empower an international engineering team to take full ownership and develop confidence in their decision-making.

* Strategic Partnerships: Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Product leadership, and collaborate with the saas.group Central Platform team on DevOps and infrastructure topics. Navigate the balance between technical sustainability and rapid delivery.

What You Bring to the Table

* SaaS Expertise: Proven experience leading engineering teams in a high-scale production environment, with a focus on efficient team structures and operational excellence.

* Technical Proficiency: Strong technical skills in modern technologies (such as PHP/Laravel, Vue.js, and cloud infrastructure) with a particular emphasis on architecture and system design.

* AI Integration: A forward-thinking approach to integrating AI into both product development and engineering processes.

* Product Focus: A strong sense of product vision, prioritizing engineering efforts based on customer value and business impact rather than technical complexity.

* Change Management: Skilled in building alignment during organizational transitions and leading teams through change and resistance.

* Enabling Leadership: Measure success by the quality and quantity of delivered products, not just individual contributions.

* Domain Expertise: Strong knowledge of SEO-related web technologies, including websites, crawling, indexing, and content analysis.

* Communication Skills: Fluent English is essential; German fluency is a plus.
