About this job
Canonical is a forward-thinking provider of open-source software and operating systems for the global enterprise and technology markets. Our flagship platform, Ubuntu, is extensively used in cutting-edge enterprise initiatives like public cloud, data science, AI, engineering, and IoT. Our customer base includes leading public cloud and silicon providers, as well as industry leaders from various sectors. As a company, we are a trailblazer in global distributed collaboration, with over 1200 colleagues spread across 75+ countries, with minimal office-based roles. Team gatherings occur twice to four times a year, in diverse locations worldwide, focusing on strategy and execution.
Canonical is a founder-led, profitable, and expanding organization.
We are seeking a Sales Enablement leader to craft the growth strategy for our global sales team. At Canonical, sales enablement extends beyond onboarding—it involves ensuring our teams effectively communicate the intricate value of Ubuntu, OpenStack, and AI infrastructure to tech leaders. You will be a key partner, identifying, defining, and implementing tools and workflows that enhance the sales process, driving efficiency and reducing barriers.
A successful candidate will thrive in a high-performance environment that challenges them. You will collaborate with Sales Leadership to pinpoint performance gaps, reduce the time to competency, boost productivity, and improve our win rates. This role is highly visible, ensuring our distributed workforce remains at the forefront of industry standards.
Role Details:
- Lead enablement initiatives to continuously enhance sales productivity and new hire ramp-up. - Design and implement global sales enablement strategies aimed at revenue growth. - Provide coaching and mentoring, integrating sales strategy, processes, and sales methodologies. - Develop advanced sales strategies and competitive intelligence resources for enterprise markets. - Work cross-functionally with Sales, Revenue Operations, Product, Marketing, and all go-to-market teams to ensure enablement aligns with broader objectives. - Own the end-to-end sales onboarding process, ensuring new hires achieve peak productivity swiftly. - Identify and address training needs for the sales team to drive ongoing improvements. - Collaborate with Product Management and Marketing to translate technical roadmaps into value-based sales narratives. - Manage the sales enablement technology stack (CRM, LMS, etc.) to optimize tools and improve the sales process. - Provide a framework for teams to create and maintain high-quality sales materials, including discovery guides, pitch decks, and battlecards. - Facilitate live and virtual training sessions on advanced product features and sales techniques. - Coordinate the logistics for global sales training events and our twice-yearly "sprint" weeks. - Monitor, report on, and act upon the adoption and effectiveness of enablement initiatives using data-driven insights. - Support the senior team in preparing reports for leadership and ensure accuracy in sales documentation.
We are looking for:
- A robust academic background from both high school and university. - Proven experience coaching sales leaders and diagnosing business issues to drive organizational improvement. - Mastery of a contemporary sales methodology such as MEDDPICC, with experience coaching leaders and sellers using it. - Skill in aligning and influencing others, establishing direction, achieving consensus, and execution. - Experience in building enablement programs in emerging or high-growth markets. - A history of exceeding expectations to achieve exceptional results. - A commitment to skills development and mentorship. - A passion for technology, evidenced by personal projects and initiatives. - Exceptional interpersonal skills, curiosity, adaptability, and accountability. - Appreciation for diversity and effectiveness in a multi-cultural, multi-national organization. - A results-oriented mindset with a personal drive to meet commitments. - The ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in sales enablement, technical training, or sales operations. - Proficiency in Salesforce, modern LMS platforms, and project management tools (e.g., Jira). - Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
What We Offer:
- A competitive compensation package based on location, experience, and performance, reviewed annually (more frequently for graduates and associates). - A performance-driven annual bonus or commission. - A personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year. - Twice-yearly team sprints in person. - Comprehensive benefits that align with our values and needs, tailored to local requirements.
