About this job
Canonical builds open source software and operating systems for enterprises and technology companies worldwide. Ubuntu, our platform, powers major enterprise work in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering, and IoT. Among our customers are the biggest public cloud and silicon companies, plus leaders across many industries. We pioneered distributed collaboration on a global scale: 1200+ people spread over 75+ countries, with almost no office-based positions. Two to four times a year, teams gather in person in interesting places worldwide to agree on strategy and delivery.
Canonical is founder-led, profitable, and expanding.
We want a Sales Enablement leader to build the growth path for our worldwide sales organization. Here, enablement goes well past onboarding: the job is making sure our teams can explain the intricate value of Ubuntu, OpenStack, and AI infrastructure to the most sophisticated technology leaders on earth. Acting as a trusted partner, you will spot, scope, and roll out tooling and workflow upgrades that make selling more efficient and less friction-heavy. Positioned where Product, Marketing, and Sales meet, you will convert high-level strategy into excellence in the field.
For an experienced leader who wants ownership of global strategy, this is a demanding, high-performance setting. Alongside Sales Leadership, you will pinpoint performance gaps, shorten ramp time, lift productivity, and push win rates higher. The role carries high visibility: you keep our "distributed-first" workforce the sharpest in the business.
Location: EMEA-based remote roles.
What you will do
* Run enablement programs that continuously improve sales productivity and ramp time
* Direct the design and rollout of worldwide sales enablement strategies that grow revenue
* Coach and mentor, drawing on sales strategy, process, and a proven sales methodology
* Push forward the build-out of advanced sales plays and competitive intelligence material for enterprise markets
* Work across Sales, Revenue Operations, Product, Marketing, and every GTM team so enablement strategy backs wider company goals
* Take full ownership of sales onboarding start to finish, getting new hires to peak productivity fast
* Spot and meet training needs across Sales teams so improvement never stops
* Partner with Product Management and Marketing to turn technical roadmaps into value-based sales stories
* Run the sales enablement tech stack (CRM, LMS, etc.) so tools speed selling up rather than slow it down, delivering the right thing at the right moment and place
* Give relevant teams a framework for building and maintaining strong sales assets such as discovery guides, pitch decks, and battlecards
* Deliver live and virtual training on advanced product capabilities and selling techniques
* Handle logistics for worldwide sales training events and the twice-yearly "sprint" weeks
* Track, report, and act on how widely enablement work is adopted and how well it performs, guided by data
* Help the senior team put together leadership reports and audit sales documentation for accuracy
What we want from you
* Outstanding academic results at both high school and university level
* Proven history of coaching sales leaders and diagnosing business problems to improve an organization
* Command of a modern sales methodology such as MEDDPICC, enough to coach both leaders and sellers in it
* Skill at aligning and influencing people, setting direction, reaching consensus, and delivering
* Experience creating enablement programs from scratch in emerging or fast-growing markets
* History of exceeding what was asked of you and producing exceptional results
* Leadership plus real commitment to mentoring and developing skills
* Genuine enthusiasm for technology, shown through personal projects and initiatives
* Strong people skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability
* Values diversity and works well in a multi-cultural, multi-national organization
* Focused on results, personally driven to deliver on commitments
* Able to travel abroad twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks
Nice-to-have skills
* Background in sales enablement, technical training, or sales operations (level-dependent)
* Comfortable with Salesforce, modern LMS platforms, and project management tools (e.g. Jira)
* Basic knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

* Distributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person
* Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year
