Profile Overview Our Platform Engineering team oversees central infrastructure services and collaborates with brands to modernize their technical stacks. Our mission is to provide a "well-paved road" of best practices (observability, backups, CI/CD, infrastructure as code) that brands can easily adopt, with hands-on support for migrations when needed. You will be responsible for outcomes for a set of brands: assessing their current state, defining what "good" looks like, and implementing the plan. This role combines architecture, enablement, and practical engineering. It is senior and autonomous, requiring you to advise and, at times, persuade stakeholders, then deliver.

Your initial impact in the first 3-6 months will include:

- Completing central onboarding by working closely with a team member for about two weeks to familiarize yourself with our patterns and tools, then start managing the brands assigned to you.

- Leading the onboarding of at least one brand to our "well-paved road" standards (GitHub organization, CI/CD, monitoring/observability, infrastructure as code), with positive feedback from brand leadership and our team.

- Delivering one or more migrations or refactor projects (e.g., CI/CD, infrastructure modernization, cost/availability improvements) and documenting decisions for future reference.

Your responsibilities

- Lead infrastructure projects for assigned brands: migrations, performance and reliability improvements, incident response practices, containerization, and cloud cost optimizations.

- Establish or upgrade CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, alerting, and SLO-aligned dashboards; baseline and enhance reliability with data.

- Advise brand CTOs and engineering leads on trade-offs and architecture; justify decisions with clear reasoning and measurable outcomes.

- Contribute to and leverage central services (e.g., observability, backups) to ensure brands avoid reinventing the wheel.

- Collaborate with developers as part of the product team during engagements; troubleshoot across application and infrastructure boundaries.

- Integrate AI into the "well-paved road": use tools like Claude Code or Codex daily to speed up infrastructure code, scripting, and incident diagnosis, and help brand teams adopt these practices in their workflows.

- Participate in an on-call rotation (currently light but scaling towards a fair, shared model).

What You Bring to the Table

- 5+ years of experience in Platform or Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering roles, with strong ownership and autonomy.

- Profound expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (ideally Terraform).

- A solid grasp of CI/CD concepts and best practices; able to assess, design, and modernize pipelines across diverse brand environments.

- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, ELK, Prometheus, or similar) and the ability to determine what "good" looks like.

- Hands-on, daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) in real-world infrastructure work, not just curiosity about them; capable of coaching brand teams on their effective use.

- A background in software development or the ability to read and debug application code.

- Excellent communication and consulting skills; confident in advising and influencing technical stakeholders while adapting to different teams and tech stacks.
